Creating a history

As a former Merchandise Mart, 6100 was a windowless beige warehouse, composed of 3 large buildings with small showrooms set along narrow corridors. The Benaroya Corporation’s brief was to re-position and unify the buildings into competitive office space, including an exterior update on a modest budget. Utilizing a curtain wall to convert the formerly windowless block was both cost effective and enhanced the appearance of the exterior enabling class A office space.

The lobby interior was dated and lacked a connection to the surrounding Georgetown location. The renovation concept introduced a connection to that heritage with a “loft like” urban re-use appearance, featuring individual seating areas, media wall and a lounge like environment. Finishes were stripped and restored, creating a socially interactive lobby environment.

With the building’s renewed spirit, two companies have leased a majority of the 6100 building as their corporate headquarters, beginning a resurgence of this industrial location, in the Georgetown District.
